 Passed Away  In August 2007   : (

Following is a tribute from Jeff Burns:  My wife, Donna, worked with Mike at the Simon School of Business at the University in Rochester, NY, where he was a professor of finance.  Mike was a gifted and very highly respected scholar and instructor. He was presented with 11 Simon School M.B.A. Superior Teaching Awards during his career and he was ranked by BusinessWeek as one of the top 12 business professors in the United States.

At a "Last Lecture" at the Simon School honoring his life, his wife, Laura Thurner said "If Mike were here, he'd say that happiness is not found on the path of riches, but that riches might be found on the path to happiness. For Mike, life was not about the pursuit of money; it was more about the enjoyment of his work. Flying brought him peace and great joy. He was a very happy and contented man. He didn't need the praise of others to make him content. I don't think a better lesson could be learned from his life."

Mike was killed when his seaplane stalled on take-off from Irondequoit Bay, near Rochester.
